CBSE Makes Mandatory Health & Physical Education For Std IX to XII
CBSE recently declared that Students from Classes IX to XII of CBSE schools have to attend health education and physical education class every day compulsorily.
There will be one period compulsorily reserved for this subject and student must attend his/her classes daily, according to the board. Students have to go to the playground during their sports period, and they are free to perform any physical activity listed in the health and physical education manual and will students will get grade accordingly.
According to a board official, this initiative is to move a step forward to prevent obesity among children. The schools earlier used to have work experience, and health education in the senior classes, sports and health education class now replaces that.
There will be no exams taken on this subject. and schools can decide what kind of activities they would like to introduce during this Health & Physical Education period.
The board has prepared a 150 Page manual detailing sports guidelines and methodologies.
The marks will have to be submitted by schools to the CBSE website, will be added by a School official. While assessment will be necessary to get eligible for appearing in Board exams, However, the marks will not be added to the final result.
All teacher are eligible for implementing, & evaluating the records keeping of HPE which will be completely practical Based.
Different Reactions

The decision taken by the board is getting Different Reactions from various school authorities.
Some of them are appreciating this decision, and some are opposing But this decision is quite beneficial to support the healthy and active lifestyle among all the students.
